Noise pollution, hearing disorders, stress

Stop that noise

Whether you're in a busy city street or deep in the countryside, going to work or relaxing at home, it has never been so difficult to escape from noise. So much so that it has become a major public health issue, leading to hearing disorders, stress, and cardiovascular disease. Fortunately, scientists are beginning to find all sorts of ways to both reduce the noise from various sources and alleviate the harm that noise can do to the human body. This special feature surveys the latest developments and cutting-edge research carried out at CNRS in this field.
