Great projects in genetics

Although genome and protein sequences accumulate, many questions in the field of molecular biology remain unanswered. How is the human genome organized? What purposes do entire regions of DNA serve? How do genes and other elements of living matter interact? What is the exact function of thousands of proteins? The answers depend in part on the techniques of bioinformatics and the modeling of cellular systems. The medical field is anxiously awaiting these results. In the meantime, researchers are already exploring the therapeutic avenues of tomorrow: recombinant proteins, gene and cellular therapy, and genetic vaccines.
