The CNRS celebrates the tenth anniversary of the ERC

Institutional matters

Created in 2007, the European Research Council (ERC) awards individual research grants to talented researchers each year. The funding organization will celebrate its tenth anniversary on 13-19 March 2017 during the "ERC Week", which will close with a scientific event to be held on 21 March in Brussels. The CNRS will participate in this celebration with a series of debates across France, as well as the launch of a website presenting the 360 ERC grant laureates from its laboratories.

Aimed at both the national and international scientific community, the new CNRS website is a unique portal that seeks to encourage and support researchers who wish to apply for an ERC grant. It features interviews with CNRS grantees, who touch on various aspects of their experience: scientific freedom, financing, interdisciplinarity, discoveries, team work or career advancement. Resources, including the contact details of scientific experts and administrative support staff, are also available.

The ERC grants are awarded for a period of five years and range between €1.5 and €3.5 million per researcher. They seek to enhance the dynamism and creativeness of European research, at the forefront of knowledge, with scientific excellence as sole selection criteria.
