Le COMETS (français)
Following a decision by Geneviève Berger, Director-General of the CNRS, an independent ethics advisory committee has been created at the CNRS (August 20, 2002).
The role of the Ethics Committee is to deliberate on the ethical aspects of the practice of scientific research; to put forward recommendations concerning the application of the rules of ethics and ethical conduct in research; and to raise awareness of the importance of ethics among researchers and personnel.
The Committee is made up of twelve members and a president, who belong to the scientific community or the community at large, both inside and outside the CNRS. They represent a variety of scientific disciplines. The president and the members are appointed for a period of four years.
The archives as well as past records of issues addressed by COMETS (the Committee on Ethics for the Sciences) have been transferred to the Ethics Committee.
